Theo Boone is only thirteen years old, yet he knows much more than any other lawyer in the state. His father Woods Boone and his mother Marcella Boone are both lawyers. His uncle Ike was also a lawyer long time ago, but something happened because of which he was taken away from his job.
Everyday after school:
- He would go to the courthouse (where he felt more at home than his actual home),
- Talk Judge Henry Gantry (Theo's favorite judge and also a sort of best friend. He wanted to be like Judge Gantry when he became a judge or lawyer. Always noble and fair.) if he was not in the court busy with a trial,
- Then he would meet his parents if they were not busy with clients
- Then go to his room in the same floor, pat Judge (his lazy mixed mutt dog), finish of his homework before 4 O'clock, pass time doing research on his laptop,
- Then go to dinner with his parents at a restaurant at 7 O'clock (his mother rarely cooks),
- Go back home spend more time on his laptop and finally he goes to sleep.
His life was tension free until... the day of the biggest trial in state. This particular trial was on the cause of murder. (* The debate is generally State VS the Person Suspected) Mr. Pete Duffy was the person suspected of murdering his wife. At the beginning of the trial the State was doing pretty well, convincing people that it was Duffy who murdered Myra Duffy. As it came to Clifford Nance's turn (Pete Duffy's lawyer) he talked and talked and talked making the States case look so weak that there was no point on holding the trial. The trial had been happening for over a week. Theo wanted to miss school so bad so that he could watch the trial, but whoever missed school for something like a trial would be badly punished. The case seemed to be going no where. Though one day a boy, (from the homeless center which his mother ran) Julio came and told him something that would completely turn around the case.
For knowing what that is you have to read the book. Even I don't know what happens in the end because John Grisham left me at a very nail- biting turn (Just like I do to you sometimes!)
