Usually, I do not find autobiographies particularly fascinating or something that I would want to write a review on. I find them predictable— hardships and overcoming challenges. After all, how can a 16 year old “review” the life of one of the best tennis players in the world? Therefore, in this review I will talk about an aspect of Maria’s personality. Indian Crafts - Bandhani, Jamnagar

‘Bandhani’ is derived from the Sanskrit word bandha which means “to tie”. Bandhani, also known as Bandhej, refers to a tie-dye method of resist dyeing textiles practiced mainly in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the oldest techniques used to create different coloured patterns on textiles. It was introduced in Jamnagar, a city in Gujarat when the city was formed 400 years ago. Jamnagar is now one of the leading centers of bandhani and is known for its experimental designs. Significance In Gujrati culture, Bandhani symbolises being a woman, love, and marriage. It is an essential part of a woman’s wedding closet. A Gujarati tradition involves women of the family passing a bandhani saree down through generations. In continuation of the witches theme, here is another book: 'The Worst Witch ' by Jill Murphy. It is the story of a girl who is a slow learner in the academy of witches. Tumbling, breaking her broomstick, turning her enemy into a pig and many other things keep us laughing. In the end she proves to be a brave witch by saving the academy from the bad witches. The pictures in the book add more fun to the story.
