Immortals of Meluha - Amish

I am sure most of you are familiar with this book, but I am still going to tell you the summary of the story. This is the first book from the Shiva Trilogy. The second book is named ‘The Secret of the Nagas’ and the third ‘The Oath of the Vayuputras’.

Shiva is just a Tibetan tribe leader of the tribe Gunas who live by a lake. There is another tribe called the Pakrati tribe, who are always willing to fight the Gunas in order to rule the land near the lake.
Across the valleys in Kashmir, there is a near perfect society called Meluha. The inhabitants are called the Suryavanshis, who follow the rules and ways of Lord Ram, who was their previous ruler of Meluha about 11,000 years ago. The Suryavanshis are troubled by attacks which they think are by the Chandravanshis, their sworn enemies. Legend has it that the Suryavanshis and Chandravanshis lived together under Lord Ram’s rule, but after Lord Ram passed away, the Chandravanshis stopped following Lord Ram’s principles, while the Suryavanshis continued his ways. This way, they were separated (with hatred for each other) into two empires.

There is yet another legend, this one older which says, “When evil reaches epic proportions, when all seems lost, when it appears that your enemies have triumphed, a hero will emerge.” Another part of the legend states that:
1)    This hero shall not be a Suryavanshi or a Chandravanshi.
2)   Upon drinking the Somras – a drink that makes you immortal- his throat shall turn blue
3)   He shall be called by a different name by the others, the Neelkanth (Neel – Blue, Kanth – Throat)

Beware though, it isn’t as it seems. Will leading the Suryavanshis be bad? Are the Chandravanshis truly better? To find out… READ THE BOOK!
