I'm sure there have been a few instances for most people where they dream about a thing and it comes true within a few seconds, days, weeks or months. I have certainly had many 'visions' like that. One day, Colin Hitchin realises he's psychic and that he can see ghosts. Just a random day out of the blue. It's well impossible to tell anyone, because he's always getting bullied. The only person he can tell is his best friend, Polly McBrian. As you can tell, she thinks he's crazy too. Great! The last thing he needed was for the only person he can trust, the only person who doesn't tease him, the only friend he has to think he needs medical attention. Situation fits that the only person who believes him a is his crazy Uncle Jimmy, who, may I just add, has in fact been to a mental hospital.
Colin is fourteen, he a shorty who is four foot 'ten and his IQ is incredible. Uncle Jimmy is a basic hippie, but he like to think of himself as a 'traveller'. Soon a problem arises (which I will talk about later) where Jimmy thinks that the only solution is to have an out of body experience. To have an 'out of body' experience one must enter their lamia*1. Here is the quote in the last paragraph on page no.75 and carrying on through the first line if page no.75:
"See your breath, filling up you body, making you relaxed. Imagine the air pouring in through the top of your head is platinum gold. Breathe out, and imagine the air coming out has come through the bottom of your feet, and it's cold and full of minerals, like air from a cave. See that. Gold air coming down, cave air coming out. You are empty. Just a receptacle for breath. Breathe. Relax. And in your mind say the magic word "Hazoom". Hazoom."
That my, friends is how you enter your lamia, very complicated indeed... After practicing entering the lamia with Uncle Jimmy, Colin becomes an expert in entering his lamia. Now here is the problem:
The Master*2 has captured Polly's lamia. A person can survive without their lamia, but not for long, but Polly has remained without her lamia for far too long and goes into coma. How does Colin intend to save her? The master is the strongest being on earth will his wits help him, or will they fail when he needs them the most?
I found it a good read. If you have noticed I said that Colin had a very high IQ. My problem was that the author did not prove it. Just saying that he won an award for having a high IQ in his state and the neighbouring does not make us believe it. There were no other instances in the book that even gave a hint about his IQ. Otherwise, I think the author had a spectacular idea. About entering your soul and giving the characters very fitting personalities.
*1- lamia is your being that. Looks exactly like you, wearing the same exact clothes, but does what ever you want to do. For example: a little girl might be buying some groceries, but all she really wants to do is dance in the snow. The dancing in the snow is done by the lamia. Only few people are aware of their lamias. Colin and Jimmy definitely were.
*2- the master us the greatest, most powerful being on earth. He's like a genie who only serves himself and has an unlimited amount of wishes.
