The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown

Robert Langdon’s adventures continue in this book. Robert is a Harvard symbolist who has been broadcasted on the news a bit too much for saving the Vatican City from being bombed. In this book he was called to Washington DC to give a lecture. The man who invited him claimed to be Peter Solomon’s (the dear old friend on whose behalf he was going) assistant. However, this was not so. The man had been Peter’s kidnapper. The kidnapper as we later get to know in the book was Peter’s supposedly dead son.
His son, when as per Solomon family tradition, had been given the life changing choice between wealth and wisdom has chosen wealth. In a desperate attempt to make his son choose the latter, Peter told him he was the holder of one of the pieces to complete the symbolon of the Masonic Pyramid. The Solomons, because of Peter held a very high status in the Masonic brotherhood and in the outside world too; he was also the leader of the Masons. He had told his son not to tell anyone about the Pyramid. The very next day he fled from home.
He became a drug addict and was put behind bars. When he was there, he overheard a conversation between his father and the jailer. His father wanted to keep him in jail a while longer to teach him a lesson even when he had a choice of bailing his son out. This made him angry, which caused him to bail himself out with the money he inherited, fake his own death and start his life over. He got himself a new identification, changed his name to Andros, built his body, stopped his drugs and led a luxurious life on an island in Greece. One day he just got sick of his life, and his motive to live changed when one day he heard about the Masonic Pyramid that uncovers a treasure of wisdom and could give man the power to perform the superhuman tasks that we think are impossible. This sparked a distant memory and that was when he decided to decode that pyramid.
Therefore, once again he changed his name to Mal’akh. He set out to Peter’s house to forcefully obtain the information, and in the process ended up killing his grandmother AKA Peter’s mother (Yeah, I know he did something extremely messed up, but then again he started doing drugs). On were Robert Langdon and Katherine Solomon (Peter’s sister; read my previous post to know more about her) to save Peter, the Masonic brotherhood, and the priceless information.
I really enjoy reading Dan Brown books. They are very informative and interesting. I would also like to request you to give me some book recommendations!
