1.   Astronomers Discover “Young Jupiter”  Exoplanet:
The GPI (Gemini Planet Imager) has discovered a new planet that is sort of like cousin to Jupiter. This planet has been named 51 Eridani b and has the strongest methane signature ever detected in the unknown world. It is a very important discovery as it shows the different stages of planet formation. This is GPI’s first planet discovery. GPI is different from other planetary observers as it recognises planets from the methane signature, whereas others, such as NASA’s Kepler Space Observatory identify them by the “loss of starlight as the planet passes in front of its star”. That implies that if the observatory sees a block in the rays of starlight, they observe the celestial body and conclude whether the celestial body is a planet or not.

2.   Perseid Meteor Shower:

2015 has by far been the best year yet for viewing the Perseid meteor shower. It lasted 4 days, but it looked the most stunning on the 14th due to the clear moonless night.
