Being a teenage girl, I feel society puts a lot of pressure on us. The pressure of having a so called “bikini body” which means having a thigh gap, no fat around your waist and stomach, etc. On top of this, there are other factors such as having the “perfect” height of being tall and “perfect” hair that is those beachy waves. Some more things include having the “perfect” nose which beauty scientists have declared is a nose angled at 106o and yet another one of them is having high cheekbones. Oh wait, I forgot having not dark circles nor having any bags under the eyes. These are just the things that you're born with.
Now, let's get onto the makeup. You are supposed to use the right foundation for your skin tone, have the perfect winged eyeliner, use a posh concealer, have that glamorous smokey eye or shimmering eye shadow, use blush, etc. I can go on forever about the makeup.
Don't get me wrong, though. I know that makeup gives people confidence. But why is that? Why is it that makeup gives us confidence? By contouring, you are essentially drawing on sharper noses, higher cheek bones and slimmer faces. This is what gives women confidence. It makes us confident because it is what makes us look better, according to society. You draw over you lip line, so that it looks like you have bigger and more luscious lips because that's what society favours! Do you get the point I'm trying to make yet? Why is it that we are letting some random people, who probably don't have any of the things they are claiming are “perfect” or got plastic surgeries to get them, tell us to be different. We are what we are. Love it! Next time you see someone telling someone they're ugly or even telling you, go punch their face and make sure you break their teeth so that they can't tell you you're not beautiful, when they themselves look like they've been hit by a train.
Looks are one aspect of “perfection”. Another is something heard commonly too, the “perfect “ couple. In your head you probably imagined a good looking woman and a good looking man. Why is it that you didn't imagine two women or two men? Or even less commonly imagined, people who cross dress? This is yet another one of the things society drives into our brains. Just like Hitler and the Nazi Party drove their ideology into kids as early as the age of 3. In my opinion society is crueler and more insensitive that Hitler. Hitler aspired for world domination but didn't get it. His control of Germany itself made people fear him, but we do not fear society dominating the WORLD. Wake up people!
At a very young age I learned you cannot please everyone. Most of the people? Sure. All of them? Impossible. Close your eyes and think of one thing that you love the most. It can be food, a piece of jewellery, favourite shoes, or even a person. I bet you know at least one person who dislikes whatever or whoever you imagined. Does this not prove the point I'm trying to make?
It's time to start a revolution against society and beliefs on the so called “perfection”. It has already started with millions and millions of people trying to get LGBTs accepted into the society. The U.S. Has already legalised gay marriage. It's time for India as well as other countries to do so too. By popularising this opinion and getting people to rebel and work towards this, we can make a change. What's the government going to do if 99% of the people of the country disagree with a particular law?
It is high time for a change and it can only be done if you believe in it and make other believe in it.
